Next Event August 2009

It’s that time of year again, when we all focus our thoughts and efforts into yet another Country Fair. This year we are looking to add, to our already impressive list of attractions making this year bigger and better than ever, bringing with it something to interest and entertain all the family.  The Organisers are proud to present this our 14th Country Fair at Cattows Farm, Heather, on Sunday 23rd August 2009.

Heading the list of attractions for 2009, We welcome for the first time at the Country Fair The Lancaster Bomber of the Battle of Britain Flight. This magnificent aircraft will be gracing the skies above the Showground as it  hopefully performs a number of low level fly past’s during the afternoon.

Once again the Mounted Games of Great Britain are with us, competing for the I.C.F trophy, this event attracting the top riders from all around the country. For 2009 we have introduced that fast and furious sport for man & dog, Fly ball ! with demonstrations taking place in the Arena during the afternoon. There will also be Falconry displays, Archery, Air rifles, sheepdog and Gundog demonstrations.

Add to these the ferret show, Terrier and Lurcher Show and Racing, Exemption dog Show, Model aircraft display, trade and charity stalls, Large Craft Marquee, along with children’s rides and entertainment these will keep the family amused for hours. Other attractions include a display by The Midland Bernese Carters, “Have a Go” Clay Shoot, Heavy Horses, Poultry & Pigeon exhibition,  Parade of the Atherstone Foxhounds and the North Warwickshire Beagles, all adding to the Country atmosphere.

The Heavy Horse at Work will be on display during the day showing how versatile Man, Horse and their machines can be, and don’t miss the chance to ride around the show-ground in the Horse drawn Wagon. Browse around the various Vintage & Military vehicles, tractors and stationery engines that will be on show, along with the Steam Roller, or just Marvel at the wonderful display of Mini’s, VW’s and classic cars that we have on show. There will be an opportunity to take a trip in the Helicopter, which will land and take off from the show-ground during the afternoon. For those wanting to keep their feet firmly on the Ground they can have a go on the 4x4 Experience, or just marvel at the various Displays on offer by the different Groups, bring along your dog and have a go in the Exemption Dog Show.

This year we welcome back to the Fair The Ibstock Brick Brass who will be entertaining the crowds around the refreshment area during the afternoon. The Leicestershire & Rutland County British Legion Pipe band are joining us again this year, performing their stirring repertoire of Scottish music, and the Championship winning 1st Ibstock Scout Band will perform their lively Marching Display in the Main arena. Various exhibitions and static displays will be on show including the release of a number of racing pigeons, and to conclude the day we will hopefully launch the Hot Air Balloon (Weather Permitting). Plenty of Free Car Parking along with Refreshments will be available throughout the day from various outlets and the beer tent will ensure that you’ll keep your cool when the heat is on.
